What did your chickens do today?

I have 6 lorps, 2 blue 4 black, and all of them are terrified of me. They are nieces to my one friendly hen, Dragon. Dragon was always friendly....These are just spastic, even if i look inside the brooder.

Today I gave my girls a bowl full of lime jello, the part on the bottom that's a bit too rubbery for my likes.
They all came running for their treats as usual, crowding and pushing to get to it first ... I was given the dreaded "stink-eye"
by each one as they plunged their beaks into the green goo and quickly decided that it was disgusting.
There's not too many things they won't eat but they were unanimous.
I redeemed myself later with a big bowl of Ramen noodles.

I put all my babies out to play in their newly finished pen. They're eating it up being "free" from their coops! It amazes me that the dust bathing instinct comes naturally without an adult chicken to teach them. I made a chicken pot pie for lunch today. I had a little of my filling mixture left over. Consisting of cream of chicken soup, green beans, corn, green peas, lima beans, carrots, and potatoes. (I layer my chicken on the bottom of my dish before the rest of the filling) I put the rest of the filling into a shallow bowl and took it out to my babies. They tore into it like I had just put gold dust covered worms in front of them. So dang funny!! Dirty chicken faces are hilarious!

Mine must be the odd ones. I let them out to wander loose and all but 5 ran back to the coop because I went into the house. I went back to check on them and have about 50 swarming around my feet, rubbing up against my legs and then they learned they could just onto my lap while I sat on the chair.

He figured out he could jump into my lap and get attention.

Just a few of the chicks that came around me when I came back outside. The rest were under the chair and all around me.

Today I let two of the chickens out of the pen to run around. I've been hesitant to do this in case I couldn't get them back in. They had a GREAT time! Then I actually forgot about them, so instead of a "little" time outside the run, they had a "lot" of time! But they were both close to the fence and hadn't seemed to wander very far. Wonder if Mr. Roo called them back? I'll try it again this afternoon and give each of them their time outside. Lots more to do out there! Don't think I'll be lettin' 'em out all at once, though.
