what disease is associated with a "S" shaped mov't of neck?

This morning her crop is still the same size, (lemon sized and squishy). The rest of the hens their crops are small and empty.

She ate a few bites of plain yogurt with probiotic, and I syringed water in her. She looks better, but has had no poop in over 24 hours. When she bends over a clear string of stinky mucus comes out her nose.

Going out today to find a french tube of sorts to irrigate the crop as well as the anti-fungal med.

Should I hold back food until the crop has gone down?

Thanks

I'm no expert, but I would probably not feed her anything until she is properly hydrated. If you can't find a catheter tube, you can use aquarium air hose, just melt the end with a match so it has smooth edges. When this sort of thing happens to my full sized hens I can usually get 60ml of water in them, then I massage the crop a little, wait for it clear some, then tube more water. Doing this should produce poop unless there is an obstruction, which could be anywhere.

Thanks Kathy.
I got some aquarium tubing and melted it like you said to. I got about 15 cc's in her via tube before she got away from me and the tube came out. I massaged her crop and yellow stuff along with (what looked like berry seeds) came out her nose and mouth onto the floor. She gurgles a bit when messaging her. Btw... I gave her berries 4 days ago so I know her crop is not emptying.

I also noticed tiny black mites crawling on her. I dusted her with Sevin, and will dust rest of the flock soon!

Will update tonight

Biggzy our hen died last night.

I gave her 1/3 of the monostat and she seemed to tolerate it well. I had tubed about 15 ccs of plain water in beforehand and messaged her crop downward. All was looking good and able to drip another 15ccs of water into her around dinnertime. She looked to be recovering. She was getting on her feet, eyes looked better, comb nice and red. Then she started her sidewinder neck movements and started vomiting herself. I tried to gently message her crop down but this wouldn't help. Within 5 minutes she was gurgling and asperating her own vomit into her lungs and died. She brought up mostly a light rusty looking smelly liquid and I had no way of suctioning out her esophogus to clear her airway.

This is our first death in three years. It's sad, but I learned much from this.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for your loss... It's possible that the dying process had already started when you first noticed the symtoms and that's why she still had food in her crop. I suspect that if you did a necropsy you would find some type of cancer or repro issue.
