So can quail eat BOSS for extra protein? The reason I ask is because, mine seem little incomparision to the new ones I have. Can they break down the shell I guess is what I'm asking.

I tend to think a varied diet = better tasting meat and eggs. Seems to work as mine get all sorts of things - at the moment its radish thinnings - and are soooo yummy and satisfiying to eat and to watch.

Talk about multi talented birds, they make you happy inside and out

Oh, nad have just started giving mine the apples my kiddies leave after eating a bite or two

but its so funny! The quail leave just the skins and the picked clean core for me to clean up.

Down here there is a really tall kind of wild grass - 7 plus feet in my back yard - with airy seed heads so I pull them up roots and all, bend over so the roots and seed heads are at ground levell and shove into corners of the cage. They get cover, shade and seeds, all in one.

Havnt found anything yet they dont like really!

I leave a bowl of finch seed next to the game bird feed. I also put dandelions and other greens in the pen. My youngster Zombie loves greens, but I was giving him chopped up greens in his water since a couple of days old. My 4 adults are really picky since they only had dried feed before I got them. They did figure out meal worms are nummy pretty darn quick

My first girls were right picky as to what they wanted to eat untill the feeder ran out a time or two. They eat just about anything now

Works a treat with my kids too, hunger really is the best sauce!
