What do doves eat

Just looked it up and they are protected under the federal migratory bird act. Since you don't have the correct permits (and training to get said permits) it is a felony to have those eggs.

Im thinking about smashing the egg in my backyard on the ground. Will that do it? The 2 eggs are already cracked from damage of the mom but no membrane is broken so that's why they are both still alive. So do I just throw the eggs into a fire?
 
There are domestic doves that people raise. There are threads on here about it. They should be able to offer better help, and advice.
