What do I do to get more eggs?

I just received two hens from a friend it has been two weeks and they have only layed a couple of time. These chickens have layed everyday at least once in till they came to my house. I think it is getting used to living here but, I dont know. Could the weather be it too! please I need help.

Its likely that they are stressed out by moving to your house. It may take a few more weeks before they calm down and lay to their full potential.

If they've laid at all, sounds like you're ahead of the game to me! Animals don't like to be messed with, and chickens especially tend to quit laying when you move them around. Some other things to keep in mind...

How old are they? Older hens are less likely to lay overall, and ime easier to throw off laying.

what breeds are they? high production birds are more likely to keep laying, ornamental type breeds stop much easier

one is laying now but, the other is not!!! I think they are river rocks not to sure. My chicks and one of the older have been hadled everyday!! the chicks since the day they were born
