Hi, I am incubating my first eggs. Yesterday day 31, one of the eggs pipped and I know you aren’t meant to help. So this morning (24 hours later) the duckling had hardly made any progress. I helped by removing the broken bits of shell carefully. It looks like the membrane is brown and may have shrunk. The ducks beak is out so still singing but don’t want to harm the little one by helping too much. Advice please?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If the membrane dried out you can put a little coconut oil on it and put it back in the incubator.
Extending on this. If you decide to put some coconut oil on it, gently apply it onto the membrane with a paintbrush.
If you drop it on, there is a risk of drowning the chick
