What do i feed SHOW BIRDS!!

I will ask them to order it, especially interested in Mazuri forage block..not sure how to find that.. Ive looked over thier feed list a hundred times so I know right now it isnt there..
Good luck finding feed without con-agras hand in it.. they do not make anouncements and kind of like to fly under the radar, rather a slippery bunch ...the less you know the better for them. very few farmers have non GM modified corn or soy. they literally destroyed the native corn plants of south america with thier modified corn , one man went around as quick as he could village to village trying to collect up seed of blue corns ect...but when genetically tested , all most all of the corns genetic code had been altered by monsantos GM modified corn cross pollination, only a scant few were saveable.. this poor guy went to the farthest corners of south america trying to save the natives plants outside of a very few, he was too late.. All had monsantos GM gene code
children in south america and even here were being hospitalised a few years ago with severe even fatal ashma from taco shells. food inc is a very good film on the subject.

I should take a picture of this rooster, that was beaten by neighbor boy...He has a ring of strange feathers around his neck like an asian vulture..vet had no answers for this strange molt..the rest of him looks shiney and healthy..they took skin samples in case of fungas or infection from face and neck, found neither..She did suggest upping his protien level...It has been a long bitter cold winter with chickens snowed in ..I am a bit of a clean freak with them so pick around thier pen every day and clean water every day except the big heated water changed every three days. outside pen is stripped every spring after thaw down to sand gravel mix , its just easier to peel the top layer off that than it is dirt. We have never had a respratory problem here ever, but did loose a flock of show domeniques many years ago to Mereks disease.. Again, my mothers birds were unaffected by the disease , most were cross breds of one sort or another..If I remember right she lost 2 out of 12

So Resolution, in your experience of Mazuri feed have you found any cheaper alternatives to Mazuri with possibly the same digestibility and possibly just as nutrient rich? Or would you say Mazuri is the best you can get right now?

I just read the percentage from mazuri gamebird breeder to purina mills gamebird breeder feeds and they are very similar in the % of things that they have in their feeds? I know that purina backs mazuri feeds but if they're so similar whats the difference? The mazuri feed doesnt say anything about digestibility and neither does the purina mills feed. The only difference is that mazuri actually shows you their ingredients? I guess that can be sketchy if products dont show their ingredients.

I can't think of a better maintenance ration for show birds that than the Mazuri extruded kibble for exotic gamebirds. It may seem very similar to the Purina version but one is extruded- like dog kibble ( Mazuri product) whilst the other is a typical pellet. There are lots of good reasons to use the traditional pellet and there are a few good reasons not to. In my estimation the extruded kibble product is going to be the better product in the long term. It's actually the cheaper product if you are looking at the bigger picture closely. Money is saved over time and it's accumulative naturally- . So yeah, in my opinion, the Mazuri is the best product on the market that I know of. I remember reading about another food recently that is not extruded into a kibble but loaded up with a wide range of nutrients unheard of in typical pellets. I'll try and remember the name of that product and get back to you.
Getting back to the Mazuri kibble product- I would use it as the daily ration but wouldn't necessarily use it without an optimal supplementation of one sort or another, but then everyone with valuable stock is supplementing their maintenance diet with immune function stimulating feedstuffs already. The issue is going to come down to know how to make some dynamic decisions -make educated decisions regarding supplements. Which ones can you create or grow yourself? Supplements can theoretically improve the digestibility of the daily ration. A quality maintenance diet like that provided by the Mazuri product is something you can't afford not to have. Much of this has to do with the manner in which the food was manufactured. A thoroughly cooked pasta vs dry noodles.

So would it be possible that youre saving money by buying Mazuri because more of it is being digested properly and therefore equals less waste and that equals feeding the chicken less because it is being digested properly and then that would equal to saving more money? Because i know a bag of mazuri feed isnt the cheapest feed in the world. So is that what you basically mean with the equation i just gave? Also how many times do you suggest feeding them? Giving them 3 small meals a day or just filling up their feeder?

Where did you find mazuri ingredients at? I looked one or two times and couldn't find it...
Never mind I found it.....

I have fed a 22% protein game bird feed for years. The birds do very well on it & seem to maintain feather quality better than they did on a lower protein feed. I also feed some scratch grain [corn & wheat] when the birds are out on the ground. Other than that the only thing I feed is some dry cat food for a couple of weeks before a show. This provides a protein boost & helps with cage training.

Well i called my local feed store and they didnt have the mazuri gamebird feed in stock but said they'll order it and it'll get in by thursday, that's perfect, my feed that i have now will be just about finished by thursday. But what i was intrigued by was that the guy at the feed store said it was 18 bucks for a 40 or 50 lb bag? I thought it was more expensive than that. But i dont know if the guy had a updated order form/catalog of the mazuri feed. Im crossing my fingers that its 18 bucks.
