we were initially told my girl on top (the chicken not the human)/on the bottom left with super feathered feet was an olive Easter egger but now I’m not so sure. Shes also always had a tuft of feathers/hair at the top of her head. She’s laying and we have no signs what-so-ever of any green hued eggs. Thoughts? We love her whatever she turns out to be ❤️

You have a very happy child with a very pretty chicken!

No clue what breed but good for you for getting your kid in to poultry. Gotta get 'em hooked while they're young!

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

Those are cross breed birds being sold as EE or OE. Thing is people will take a brown egger cross to blue egger and call it an EE or OE... despite the fact they don't actually know what color egg the offspring will produce. They are assuming the offspring will produce a mix of the two colors. That has NOT been my experience with first generation crosses. You have to continue to select through next generations to get a consistent producing offspring.

They likely used a crested cream legbar (hence your gals poof on her head) with maybe a Brahma or Cochin. Thinking Cochin because of combs. Those legs are too heavily feathered to be from Marans, in my experience.

Although I agree we enjoy our birds whatever they end up being or laying... I would STILL make a follow up call to let those people know their birds are NOT producing what they claim. Maybe they wanna make improvements, but you can't change what you don't know.

In the future I would ask to see the eggs they are claiming to be certain color. :pop

Thank you all very much for your knowledge and thoughts. And compliments on my human girl. Because you were so kind I’m gong to show a few more shots of my kids with our different chickens. They LOVE them and partake in chores. I love having them more than I could have ever thought!

Well those smiles prove that backyard chickens are the best way to raise your kids! The first photo is a legbar crossed with something big.

Not a Brahma cross though, it would be pea combed.
That's what I was thinking.. but still learning the dominant genetic who passes what to which gender offspring and such.

Yes something big and feather shanked... which is why I was thinking Brahma a possibility. Cochin seem smaller than that to me.

One way to find out actual cross would be to chat with the supplier about their stock and find out what they keep. It could sure narrow down the possibilities.
