I was told that the golden bird was a silkie cross - but can anyone tell me what she might have been crossed with? Queenie is 12 to 14 weeks old and she is a very tiny chicken. Also, can I keep calling her "Queenie"? Or should the name be changed to "Kingie"?

The gray birds were not supposed to be part silkie, but they sure look it! Two have extra toes. Again, any ideas as to what breed they were crossed with? Also - hens or roos? The first one is 12 to 14 weeks, the other 2 were hatched 8 weeks ago. One is a good bit larger, as can be seen in the photo of them together.

I really appreciate your replies, and would like to know what characteristics of the chickens made you decide as you did. I'm new at this and want to learn all I can!

First one is an EE (easter egger) crossed with Polish, I would guess. Also, looks like a pullet.

Second looks like a cochin-silkie cross. Girl again.

Thank you! The first bird, Queenie, is a doll, and I was so afraid she'd turn out to be a he. What are the characteristics that determine their gender?
