well there are plenty of beagles in shelters needing homes. Yes, Mine like to dig too, we ran an electric fence line about 8 inches off the ground all around the fence line. We only need to turn it on about once a month to remind them. they steer clear and just dig under their dog houses. It gives about as much voltage as wearing a shock collar does.
As for shedding, we feed our dogs natural choice or natures choice lamb and rice dog food, I guess any lamb and rice may be good. Our boys don't shed hardly at all, but the female must be different cause she still sheds quite a bit. Don't know why.
