What do yall think?

go for it trisha...blindtiny is in her own little space anyway and i think she would really appreciate a little fuzzy silkie friend. As for them sticking together i dont agree with that...i have silkie chicks with polish chicks and they all bed down and snuggle together and their coop/run is definitely big enough for them to separate if they wanted to.

Trisha, we just got a black Jap Bante today and we are having trouble with our standards pecking her really bad. I think we are going to return her tomorrow so they won't kill her. Good luck

I'm so scared to even try. I don't want Tiny to be by herself (even though she seems to love it) and I really don't want to get a new chicken for her to room with if it won't work out because then I'll have to deal with trying to mix the new silky in with the rest of my flock.

This sucks. In a perfect world, I'd get the new chicken and put her in with Tiny and they'll be best friends.

Oh and the lady said she doesn't know the sex of her birds. How can I tell when I go to look at them? Do the roos have thicker legs or anything that will give me and hint?

i would say go for it, but dont get your hopes up, it might not work. dont get a cochin, they can see much better than a silkie

no idea - but from what i've heard they dont roost - just thought that might be a little helpful. i would only get 1, because they already have a clique and would hide away in the opposite part of the coop.

They don't roost? Tiny's roost is only about 4" off the floor so she can find it. Would a silkie roost 4" off the floor?

What about trying 1 of your girls from your flock first?
If it doesn't work out, all you have to do is put the other girl back in with the flock.
Then try something else.
