What do you believe is the best hatchery?

depends, ideal sends the birds you want (or has for me) and has cheap prices with good customer service along with a lot of great feedback..

Murray mc murray is known for having better quality (Show wise) birds.. Rest i haven't been that impressed with.

Purely Poultry.I have had super luck with them. The first order we had 2 die but it was 100 degrees and very high humidity I'm surprised any lived. My second order came over a week ago with 2 extras. This time each and every one was super spunky. They are now doing great
The quality of the ones I have got are also very good and they carry a large variety...many of the others don't have the breeds we do.
Here are some from there at 5 days old..the big chick eating camera had them scared.

Meyers is your best bet as even MY Pet Chicken gets their from them. They are close to you and will take a small order. Your only other option is a local feed store or TSC when they have chick days.

Finding a lot of these hatcheries that people are saying are just drop shippers... they don't even hatch chicks.

Research your sources a little bit before buying.

Purely Poultry is a broker...knew it when I bought from them...did my research

and found they had the breeds to offer that I have..several of which the "big" hatcheries don't have. They also have nice quality chicks and chicks that are not dead upon arrival so the bottom line still stays the same..why does it matter if they hatch them or not? I don't want to have to order 25 chickens from 4 different hatcheries to get the breeds I want when one broker can get me what I want in one shipment.

I've always had great experiences with Ideal. Great selection, nice birds, fast shipping, (I have gotten orders of 6 ducklings from them) and excellent customer service.

I got 10 from Orchlens ( our local farm store ) They buy from Estes Hatchery Springfield Missouri. I couldnt be more happy. If you want just 6 your local farm store is a good way to go. Especially if its real cold in the spring.
