Egg Production: Any of the sex-linked birds, White Leghorns and their infinitely enhanced sisters, and Black Australorp

Meat: Any of the Cornish and their crosses

Fly Tying: Probably any of the barred breed although I have heard Crele Pendesenca feathers are excellent for tying. can't remember where I read that though.

Show: Silkies, Cochins, and Old English Game Bantams. Overall I would say there are probably more bantams at shows that standard breeds.

Dual Purpose: Wyandottes, Delawares, Orpingtons, Rocks, Black Australorps, Jersey Giants, Rhode Island Reds, and New Hampshire Reds

Leghorns can, of course, be reared at home. I dont think they are the best choice for confinement, however.

There are several strains of them, some are for hackle, some for saddle. Most breeders for hackle and saddle have some sort of longtail in them.

Dont mean to sound ignorant here, but what is fly tying? Are they referring to fly fishing? Perhaps using the feathers to make the "fly"?
