I can only imagine how that is pronounced. Probably sounds like a sneeze.

Crawfish. The correct answer.
You are a terrible Northerner.
Our pet store sometimes has had blue lobsters. I’ve always thought those were awesome and wanted one haha I know I could never take care of one though so I would never. I could barely handle fresh water and salt seems way harder
They aren't lobsters. They are crayfish that inherited the recessive blue gene. I have some in my ditch in the front yard that are blue. The Tangerine and Vanilla lobsters at Petco are also not lobsters.

A gang of us kids used to go hunting for crawdads but no one wanted to cook them. Just catch and release.

I grew up calling them crawdads. We use a small chunk of bacon on a string. Once one pinched it, they usually held on 'til we grabbed it. I've been in crawfish country for the past 30+ years, so it's starting to become the preference. Still, it's contextual. A single creature, caught it the wild, or used as fish bait, is likely called a crawdad. A multitude in the boiling pot or on the plate is called crawfish.

Huh, interesting! I swore they called them lobster but I’m not surprised at Petco mislabeling things 🤣 I think they were in the fresh water section anyway now that I think about it.
