What do you do for a living? Anyone work w/animals for a job???

I'm a "retired" vet tech 1983-2003, (worked same practice 20 yrs) and did their equine practice until one fell on me at work, then did their small animal tech work to office mgr when I got married and had my 2 children. I quit in 2003 to home school the kids who were in a pvt Christian school but bored stiff (already) in 3rd and 4th grade---even though they were in accelerated classes.
Before that I managed equine breeding farms and also did extensive foaling work and neo natal care.
Now I work at a friend's horse farm part time, the kids go with, and we still home school. One is in 10th and one is in 9th grade, soon to be 11th and 10th in a week!

. They love it and have learned to work and save money, and help animals/people all at the same time.
We have a small hobby farm with horses, chickens, dogs, cats and fish and gardens, all done naturally and organically.
Also help with rescue work when possible and adopted a pomeranian rescue last year that we all adore.

There's a huge market out there for the doggie *& kitty* day care and boarding businesses. I get calls all the time to house sit friend's pets and horses, and their friend's pets when they are out of town. People are looking for that personal touch as businesses grow and loose that touch. Good luck!

I'm a Home Economics Engineer, specializing in BS (that's NOT Bachelor's of Science! LOL), Petty Arguments (she looked at him, he coughed in her space), and Driver's Services.

In my former life, my career was Medical Records Technician. I filed Birth Certificates with the state, did a 'little' diagnosis coding, and a bit of Transcription. My most recent job was with a pathologist. I really enjoyed that. That was only supposed to be a part time, temporary thing, but it lasted 4 years until the doc retired and closed his practice.

CAD administrator - I design electronic circuit boards for food service equipment. all you need to do is bring food into the engineering office space and stand back. the smell of free food can make for a feeding frenzy.

In a former life; I spent a little over 24 years in the US military, had one too many "military accidents" i. e. had to have my left leg amputated; went to college and got my Ph D in Electrical Electronic (micro) Engineering(EEE); taught eight years high school and college mathematics, physical sciences and EEE and now telecommute part-time as a high-level IT tech engineer and systems designer. Also I collect a VA disability compensation check, my military pension and whatever I make as a true Southern gentleman farmer raising all sorts of livestock, produce and dairy products. I also make some change doing welding (spot,stick,arc,oxy-acetyl.MIG/TIG/GMAW,etc.) and machining with a 3 axis CNC lathe/mill/vert drill. And I've been told that I'm permanently and totally disabled? It's true that I have an incurable disease (service-related) that will eventually hasten my demise, but I'll just have to cram more into what life I got left!

All y'all take care!

I used to be an emergency vet tech for several years, but then decided that maybe I should use my Psych degree on people (which was the original goal) instead of animals...Although I think I used it a lot because some people are really crazy when it comes to their pets: we were held at gunpoint one night by a man who insisted that his cat DID NOT have feline leukemia! Right now I am a counselor at a juvenile detention center, and I really enjoy working with the kids...It is definitely challenging.

Oh yeah, and I am one of those people who are really crazy about my pets....I have to use the same vet who is a friend of mine because he lets me stand in for surgeries because I will not let the dogs out of my sight....

I was a kennel supervisor for a humane socitey for over 3 years. Now I stay at home with my kids and take care of the chickens, dogs, stray cats, rabbits, and horses. I also do dog grooming part time. I am going to open my own dog grooming and boarding kennel soon.

I am the Corporate Controller for a privately owned group of trucklines. We have about 750 trucks moving freight all over the country. I have 26 people that work for me in the Finance department. Besides making sure the books are in order, and bills are paid, we make sure all 750 families get their paycheck at the end of the week.

I like my job.... but would much rather win the lottery so I could spend my time at home with not only the wife and kids but my chickens, pigs, etc....

I'm a registered nurse on an orthopedic/neurologic floor. In the past I've worked at a fried chicken joint ("The Chicken Shack") and a fine dining resteraunt. I know my way around a kitchen (and angry chefs) LOL.

My dream would be to work part time in the med field and raise my fur kids and (somewhere down the road) skin kids.
