Hi there, I had a mystery bird - well I still have her, I asked here on BYC what she was as I had no clue. I got plenty of replys, most said shes a Dark Cornish but some said she might be a Shamo ( I called the hatchery that supplied the store I got them from, and they didnt sell Shamo's but did sell Dark Cornish's) Although I dont think Dark Cornish's come in light colours........ hence Dark......

Perhaps if you google images of Shamo's and Dark Cornish's you might find out if she/he is what you think.
My Dark Cornish - Eleanor, just started laying, and in six days Ive had five eggs - awsome!!

Hope this helps

After looking on google I'm positive 100% I have a Shamo. I'm confused what she was doing at a flea market, and why I bought her for only 6 dollars.

I'll try to post some pics on here this evening. Illia - Mable looks a lot like the one you posted except her colors different. She has lot's of black ad brown on the tips of her feathers. And I've also heard that Shamo's are good broodies? Is this true?

monogamous AND excellent mothers. But o My Gosh they look strange

I guess that's why they have to have such a people friendly demeanor to make up for it.

I used to think modern games were crazy looking too but now am in love with them and own some.

It would be nice to know if it was a she or not

As far as gender I am now convinced there can only be good guesses. I have 2 blue rocks and at a young age ones comb turned fairly bright red. So 2 -3 months later still wondering. Then all of a sudden this last few weeks the one with out a red comb becomes twice the size of the one with a red comb. His comb reddens up he grows saddle feathers and walla I have a PAIR of blue rocks.

Hi. I just hatched out a batch of Thai gamefowl, very similar in appearance. Seems to be a she so far, these birds are very slow to mature, and still, all the asian gamefowl have very small peacombs/wattles, they were bred to fight and not bleed all over the place. I would hold onto her until she crows. The temperament of my bunch is very different than "regular" chickens. They haven't started bullying anybody yet, at 2 months. And VERY intelligent. No games trying to get them to go in the coop at nite. Very smart, and supposedly, very loyal. Give her a chance, I think you will be pleased.

He looks like one of those guys you see walking out of a gym and looking for a fight. My rooster walks around with his big chest pushed out and strutting. Yours looks like he is walking around knocking other roosters out.
