I'm getting up to 10 eggs a day and am quickly running out of options for what to do with them. Short of chucking them, that is.

My friends are all stocked up, we are sick of eating eggs and now we have a backlog in the 20's. So, what are some things you guys do to use up those extra eggs? Today's basket (from yesterday and today)

Beautiful eggs! Love the basket!

Sell them by advertising maybe on a local FaceBook page. Just be sure to know how to word it or FB will automatically flag it. Also you can scramble them and feed them back to your chickens. And even your dogs will love them. Scrambled eggs or egg patties are great frozen. Just flash freeze them.

I consider my eggs better for me than what I can buy at the store...as we all should...and I feed a high quality feed (all for my own selfish interest, I must admit), which gives the eggs an even better taste and nutritional quality. That said...I have a few people who want them too, so they buy them from me (only to share in the cost of raising the chickens and getting the eggs, not to make a profit). When I don't sell them, I preserve them in one of two ways: (1) I freeze them scrambled, or separated (whites & yolks separated in ice trays) and (2) I dehydrate them and make powdered egg for emergency preparedness.

I get between 8 and 12 eggs each day. I have been giving them away to neighbors, family and friends. I looked into selling them after figuring up how much I spend each year taking care of my girls. In Texas, where I live, it's OK to sell eggs with just a few rules. I'm now selling all my extra eggs and cutting down on my costs. This started as a hobby for my wife with just 5 chicks. Now, it's a evening chore that we both enjoy!

I sell my eggs with the caveat that they must be washed before using and that they are fresh "yard eggs". I wash the eggs lightly and keep them refrigerated from the first day! I keep them in flats that hold 30 eggs each. I sell by the dozen or by the flat. I keep empty cartons that my neighbors donate and make them available to those that buy fewer than a flat. By law, I can not put them in the used cartons, but they can! I can also sell at local Farmers Market" but have not tried that. I put up a sign on the highway and that, and word of mouth, are the only advertising I do. I might break even this year!!

My only expenses now are feed. Most of my runs are made from recycled materials. I just accumulated enough recycled fencing to make a large common yard so the girls have more room to move about. I do need to get rid of some roosters but it's hard to do, even though I have too many!

I should have mentioned that I live in the country so there are no restrictions on how many chickens (rooster included) I have.
I can't eat my roos, and they aren't purebred, so probably wouldn't sell. And I worry about how they would be treated by strangers, although I don't mind if they are humanely harvested. Finally, I heard that Jubilee Partners, a non denominational religious organization near here that serves as a refugee camp to incorporate people from war torn countries will take the roos to feed their residents. They also grow their own chickens for food and eggs. But I have to haul the boys there a few at a time, and it's hard. Better than put in a cockfight.
