What do you do with the body of the duck who died?

I don't think my sick duck will live. I've been nursing him for 2 days and he's looking weaker. He used to eat on his own now I have to force his bill in the water and food to eat and even then he doesn't eat. He's still flopping around.

Still can't figure out what he is sick with. His feathers and vent look fine. His feet are fine.

Just - discharge in his eyes, flopping around and not quacking.

Still... what would you do with his body... just put in the trash?

I haven't had other pets other than a dog and I had him cremated. Don't you worry animals will dig up the grave?

Sorry for your loss. Necropsy might be an option if you are curious what he died from? Take him to a Taxidermist, That way you will always have him around in your house. Pet Cremation is popular. Old fashion burial in the back yard and plant a tree over him or something like that? Then again you could always wrap him up good and place him in the freezer to give you more time to decide on what you want to do with him

He's still alive but I can't imagine he'll live. it's been 36 hours since I first discovered him flopping around and he's much worse. I've just set him in the shade outside with a water bowl and I check on him every few minutes bc he still flops round and ends up on his back.

I didn't want him to die in a dark rubbermaid tote filled with scatter wet food and wet towels. Wanted him to be in the sunshine.

His two girls were behind the fence quacking and he started to move around and try to quack. I think he likes it better with the breeze out here on him.

That is so sad, I hope he isn't suffering from any pain that he might be in? If he isn't able to drink water to stay at least hydrated, the end will be near soon.

He's able - just not willing. I have to sit with him constantly and dip his bill in and even then most of the time he refuses. I'm not an emotional wreck or anything. Just wanting to do the best for him. A rain shower is coming and I think I want to just let him be out in it rather than tuck him in the crate. It's plenty warm outside so I don't think it will physically hurt him or cause pain or cold. What do you think?

Can you bring him inside where it's warm and tube feed him fluids?

I don't know how to tube feed - how do you do it. When it's been 36 hours of flopping around and eye discharge and labored breathing, do you think there is hope that he can heal? Last night I was still hopeful, but now that he is refusing food and water and more listless, I'm wondering if this much time means he can't get better.

I bury my pets. We dig a very deep hole, and put rocks on top. Even though we live in a predator rich area I have never had one dug up.

Can you take him to the vet? For treatment, pain relief, or euthanasia?
