Yes, we have them, only we call them Cicada Hawks. Never been stung by one, I try to stay away from them....they are aggressive when hunting but fortunately they don't go after humans. Yellow bark scorpions are bad enough, if they sting my hand, my whole arm will go numb, my foot and my whole leg goes numb. Had one fall off the ceiling while I was asleep, fell on my chest, yep, stung me and I went to the hospital, my chest was numb and was having trouble breathing. They can be deadly.Ahahaha, that's what we say about Arizona, too! Everything wants to bite, poke, or sting you.
Do you have those lovely tarantula hawks in Texas? They're 2 1⁄2 in. long wasps and have one of the most painful stings in the world. They are second only to the bullet ant on the Schmidt sting pain index.

I see them from time to time and give them a wiiiiiide berth but thankfully they aren't aggressive. Roadrunners are one of the few critters that can eat them. Meep meep!
