Sick birds get euthanized(broomstick CD), they and ones that 'just die' get tossed into woods, 15 rural acres. My birds are confined in a pretty secure run so never had a predator kill, if I did any remains would go into the woods too.

Chicks and birds that have died in the dead of winter, when I can't walk out into the woods, go into a paper grocery bag and into the herby curby. Curby is dumped with a mechanical arm(which never ceases to amaze me) so they never see them.

Had to bury my one dog that died here, buried her deep(2-3 ft) under the catalpa in the east field, covered body with a previously cremated dogs ashes then a towel then 2x4 fencing(to deter digging animals) then dirt and a rock cairn, nothing tried to dig her up thank goodness.

I work in the garbage industry. They do see them..lol

A while back one of my guys who picks up recycling ended up with 15 skinned chickens somewhere on my block. He asked me who would have put dead chickens in the recycling. I still can't figure out whuch neighbor. That is lots of chickens to just toss and why skin them? Weird, very weird.

I doubt the guy driving the truck and operating the dumper arm, early in the morning when it's pitch dark outside in the dead of winter, is going to know that one paper grocery bag amongst 90gals of other stuff has a dead bird in it. ;)
Tho I imagine there might be lights and cameras to monitor the filling and compaction in those trucks, so maybe...or somewhere else down the line between dumping the curby at my place and emptying the truck and pushing the pile around in the landfill, yeah, someone might see my dead chicken....they probably see a LOT of weird stuff.

So much for 'single stream' recycling.....it all goes straight to the landfill, right?

ummmm if they didn't let it rest and tried to eat it in rigor, they might of pitched the rest thinking they didn't want to eat rubber bands ... or if the ice melted and they got too warm ... if they were selling feathers for fly tying or crafts.... but in any case they sure picked the wrong can

after WWII my dad was a driver and on his route was a hatchery... he would find chicks that hatched late, in the garbage, and bring them home :ya. Before I was born, but my brother says had every kind imaginable .. lots of pairs and trios

When we cook a turkey (found in the food section of our grocery store) the carcass is dumped in the same way. The recycling story @llombardo mentioned is very odd. I'm sure waste management has lots of odd stories - probably makes the job more interesting. :)

I had a guy call one time wanting a dumpster to dispose of 30 horses. It's illegal to dump them in the landfill. Oddly enough a local dog food company got busted using horse meat. I kind of think it was connected.

Hmmmm…. Would that be like a body of water & a flaming arrow??? :pop
Just dont burn the house down! :old

Not sure if parrots count, but hey

If dh is burning brush, dead chickens go up with the brush. If not, adults get burried. Pets get buried too and rocks are placed on top to keep anything from diging them up.
Chicks get put in a bag and go in the trash.
Had a mini pony pass away and dh and I burried him in the pasture with rocks on top.
If a chicken is injured I will process it. If attacked or dies from an unknown reason it gets burried.

Great thread Room!!! :highfive:
