I've seen several posts over the last few months from folks who wish that BYC was more 'chicken-y' and less social.

I would love to know what you get from BYC besides good chicken info.

Here's mine:

I get a sense of belonging and relative safety in knowing that I can ask questions, make comments and not be berated for asking dumb questions or having an opinion that doesnt match everyone elses.

I know that sometimes our topics get heated, especially the non-'chicken-y' ones, but thanks to great members and mods, it ends without hurt feelings.

Its wonderful to have a place on the internet where you can enjoy yourself and its family friendly. I love that we have young members here and that there is nothing that would offend them or their parents. This is sadly lacking in most internet sites.

So, this is my 1000th post and I wanted it to be 'warm and fuzzy'

Camelot, I agree.

I love BYC cause you can come on here and get all of the chicken

info I may need, help out some new folks with questions, and then just chat with all my friends. ( I know, I know, I don't really have any friends on here, but you can't just come out and say that!!!

. Even though I have seen some topics get heated

, I really think most people have good intentions

, I will admit some people just like to start trouble

. As far as topics getting heated, some chicken'y topics get really "spirited" too. You ever seen a thread about Ameracanas VS EE's?

BYC IS THE BEST!!!!!!

I can't even begin to tell you what I have gotten from this site. Every single time my husband asks a question about a chicken, or I say this or that....it starts with "My chicken site says ..."

BYC is a goldmine for resources and help. It is a gathering place for social interactions. A support group for those who need it.

A site moderated fair and balanced by a dedicated staff

~ It's a hard job.

BYC is successful and respected because when you get down to the nitty girtty bottom of it ~ it is a reflection of it's owner.

I started on BYC to learn more about chickens, get advice, see pictures, etc, but I'd say at this point, I enjoy the social aspect as much or more than the chicken info. It is really fun and interesting, and very well moderated. Often I look more at the Random Ramblings and Family Stories sections than I do the chicken sections. You can learn so much about people, and I really do feel like I "know" a lot of the members. BYC rules! It really is like a family.

I've gotten to the point that I don't ask many 'chicken-y' questions anymore. So BYC gives me friendship, and a sense of belonging. It's my own little world, a place I can get away from it all (kind of anyway

what do I get from BYC? simple

every gals dream...

i get the slumber party all the time cause most of the time i am sitting here in my p.j's drinking coffee or tea in my BYC mug of course

i dont have many people i would call "friends" in the real world ...dont get me wrong i have a ton of acquaintances but \\i am not the party gal i dont like to go to other peoples houses on a saturday night and drink and socialize

to many people in the real world dont want anything to do with you unless it is of a benefit to them and I dont find that here mainly cause well they cant...

i have a pew ppl here that i would call friends and have added a few to my buddy list that i have no idea how to access lol

I'm here for chickeny stuff. I like to learn all about chickens. Love looking at pictures of everybody else's chickens!

But it doesn't bother me if there is a lot of social stuff going on. If I'm not interested in a social thread, nobody makes me read it!

(Until it gets locked, then I have no choice. Morbid curiosity! Must read!)
