What do you have in your flock?

Pics
First go at chickens. My criteria was they have to be kid friendly, cold hardy and decent layers. Started with 5 to see which breeds I really liked.
I chose: speckled Sussex (which turned out to be a roo~ not happy about that), BO, buff NN,BR, Austrolorp. So far I've enjoyed them all. Hoping to have a bigger coop next spring and get at least a few of these: red laced Wyandotte, Dominique, splash Orpington, jubilee Orpington, Ameraucana, Welsummer. Possibly Jersey giant or Brahma?

I would LOVE a Welsummer rooster! But that is on the back burner. I love my BO's, too! They are super sweet and lovey. One actually turned out to be a rooster (there went my big plans to name them after the Golden Girls), and even HE is super sweet. Turned out to be my favorite. They moved into their coop last night and I swear I have separation anxiety! I miss my Stanley Roosterface so bad. We had a ritual every evening where he'd sit in my lap on the front porch while I bragged about him and the girls on instagram. #nerd

I have been wanting to shout about our new little flock but didn't know where, glad I found this post. We are just getting back into having chickens we had some health problems and were not able to have then for about a year. So last weekend we dipped our toes back in the water with a hardy little group of 13 chicks and a turkey!

1 silver lace wyandotte
1 golden lace wyandotte
2 Rhode island reds
2 welsummers
1 black Cochin banty
1 cukoo marana
5 easter eggers
And one little turkey!
My son and I are super excited the hubbs not so much but he will get there lol

My hubs wasn't so into it at first but now he loves them

2 Production Reds
2 Buff Orpingtons (B.O.'s)
newbies of this year are...
2 Easter Eggers and
2 Light Brahmas (one of those is a cockerel)

My husband and I are relatively new to chickens — just about two years in now! We've acquired a mixed bag. So far we have:
Three easter eggers
Three barred rocks
One speckled sussex
A buff orpington cross
A leghorn/ameraucana cross
A silkie/welsummer cross

And our rooster, I believe, is a Chantecler mix. He is wonderful — very well-behaved and takes superb care of his ladies!

Our silkie/welsummer hatched out an olive egger and two speckled sussex two weeks ago, and our leghorn/ameraucana is sitting on eight copper maran eggs!

Chickens are so addictive and so much fun.
