What do you recommend for...

Did you bury your fencing? And how do you like the bird netting for the top?
Since the birds get locked up at night, I did not bury it. I also have an electric wire around the bottom 6" - 2 strands.
The bird netting is working as we have had multiple drive-bys of hawks. ;)

I plan on it. I am debating between using a shallow metal bucket like thing, or an upside down Rubbermaid with a whole cut into the side.

I should have lots of time before laying happens as they haven’t hatched yet.
Oh wow! You're going to have fresh little ones! You should totally post pictures! I hope you get plenty of little girls!:thumbsup

Thanks for the great information! Did you use sand around their pool too? If so how clean/ messy would you say it was?
Sorry for the late response!

I did not use sand around the pool. Where ever you put your pond, your best bet to put your pool where it stays stationary and get big rocks to put around it. If the ducks can stay in the water and dig in the dirt.... trust me they will, you will have a mud fest in your pool in no time!!! I have a large kiddy pool and put some sturdy plastic wrap hardwire around my pool and what a world of difference it made. If they can't get to the mud, then they can't mud up the waters.

This is my current plan for my duck pen. The gravel is going to be what ever type of nine sharp stones I can find. It is of course not to scale. I want to give them a chance to be on natural terrain so they can forage and do duck stuff

Where is the fun in that?:p
