When my chickens are up by the coop or in the garden, I will start saying here chicka chicka, here chicka chicka. Of course the roosters pop their heads up, but then when the hens see me coming they all come running. Have you ever seen an orphington run toward you? It is more of a waddle really.

When talking to Ella, my fave chicken:

"Ella Bella!!!!!"
"You're such a good girlie."
"who wants a raspberry? OM NOM NOM"
"hello, steawberry-face."

When referring to the big girls:

"Hello, girlies."
"EWW YOU STEPPED IN FAECES!!!!!"
"get off my head, please."
"is this neccesary?" (normally when standing on my head)

I always go out in the mornings and say morning girls and boys ask how they are doing and then say hi to the kids. Then they all come running like they think I have treats. I to call them all by name I have 22 . I love going out and watching them.

Yay! i love all the little phrases and songs and am glad to know i am not the only one who talks to thier birds :) right now i ask the older ones how they are doing and they know "chick chick chickies" means its treat time, I peep peep peep at the little ones. LOL

Chick Chick Chick
Hey Errol, have you found a Good Thing? (he always dances round when he sees me and makes an excited noise while picking up and showing me something he found)
Amy, be careful. (she's always under my feet)
Do they look like they're interested? (to the roosters when they're showing off and the hens are more interested in breakfast)

Of course I make chicken noises at them. How can you not? But with a great deal of embarrassment I share the evolution of my term of endearment.

--It started as "Chickie!"

--It became "Chickie-DOO"

--It then morphed into "Chickie-doodles!"

I sometimes sing "You're a chickie-doodle dandy, a chickie-doodle do or die!"

The neighbors think I'm a raving lunatic. They may be right...
