What do you think about GM?

I can no longer consider myself a republican after Bush, and other so called repubs like Scharzeneggar <sp?>. I'll be re-registering as a libertarian before the next election.

Someone mentioned a senator with the first name of Chris and said he was a republican. His name is Chris Dodd, and he is NOT a Republican.

Our founding fathers were almost all against a democracy. Jefferson compared democracy to mob rule and said it was destined to fail. BUT, having said that: democracy is not what we have. What we have done and allowed to be done to us was the development of a very selective oligarchy masquerading as a democracy. The followers of Milton Freidman have done their best to create a .01% group of people who control everything and thus control us. Until we relinquish some of these ideas and recognize that this system is failing we will not move onto new ideas.

GM has now succumbed to pressure from the Obama admin and has taken the Chinese assembly idea off the table. They have agreed to sell Hummer to a Chinese conglomerate.GM expects to start turning a profit within 3 years. Hopefully they'll be able to pay back their loan.

All I can say is that I am GLAD I bought my GM truck years ago while it was actually still made in Texas!!!!!

The auto industry was profitable until the banks quit loaning money out because of this crisis. The bailouts were intended to stimulate the banks to start lending again instead of recouping their losses. With no controls on the $$$ once again...

I have always been a Chevrolet person. All my life. I hated to see it. I think its a crock about the bailout money. As much as I loved GM it should have been allowed to fall on its face or file for protection.

I tell you something else that bothers me, GM and Chrysler both have gotten concessions (sp?) from the UAW only after the UAW was rewarded an ownership stake in each company for its political support.

Here is where I am concerned, Ford now has to compete with GM & Chrysler and Ford does not get an concessions from the UAW. That somehow dont seem right. Ford did the right thing and now they are at a dissadvantage due to no concessions. I have not heard the media talk about that point either.

Now that the UAW has a stake in the companies it is willing to give back some of those legacy cost as well as a wage reduction. Imagine that.
