Thank you for your thoughtfulness. :) Unfortunately, Chrome causes my job's software to become unstable & we are not allowed to have it on our systems with our company's software because something about file incompatibility or something.

I do think the improvements are awesome for people with fast computers. They rock! I think the site LOOKS fabulous, and the extra features are great. Don't get me wrong. I just can't use them. I clicked on one of the new features, to make a thumbs-up to someone's post, then a little window popped up for me to post a comment. When I went to close the window, it took it over a minute to close. It reminds me of the recent "improvements" to Facebook (another site where I can no longer spend much time because it causes my computer to stop, go, stop, go, freeze, warm up, stop, go because of all the background scripts that are running).

I guess it's just me and my computer. However, I feel pretty strongly, though, NONE of us should have to download new software to our computers just to go onto one website, when we have browsers that work perfectly fine for everything else but BYC. I know they probably figured in losing a handful of users, and until/unless we can afford a better, faster computer, Farmer_Lew and I will likely be among them.

Like I said... I'm just practically in tears because BYC has become such a big and important part of our backyard farming and chicken-rearing process, and now I cannot be on it like I used to because the upgrade is too much for my system. We'll still be around intermittently, and I have taken my lunch break to type all this and gotta get back to work now. But we just won't be able to participate as before, which makes me really sad.

im sorry, H

Okay, so i can post a pic from my uploads...
Can someone check if my album is still private?
Because when i was trying to paste it... it asked me something about allowing this website access... etc... lol
Just wondering.. cause i have some pics that i dont want others to see...

I hate it.... and I dont expect I will be here much anymore...

its actually hard on the eyes... the type is too small.. and why should I have re readjust my font just for this site.. simple answer... i wont

its slower then the second coming... I feel like I am on dial up again... what will it be like in a thread with a lot of pictures?

its now on the same server platform what ever (I dont speak geek speak) as another forum I am on (very little I might add for this exact reason) its not google chrome friendly... everything has extra steps because I am using google chrome... and thats BS..

I am sure there will be more as I get moving around a little... I will say I am soooo glad I did not pay for a GFM or PPM because I would be demanding a refund!

Having features is fine IF your computer hardware can handle them. Not all of us have super-speedy comptuers or are on super-speedy networks or have tons of RAM.

I can't upgrade my browser. If I do, the software I use for my job will not work. I think a lot of people are experiencing that. Also, some of us have 2 and 3 and 4 year-old computers that just don't have the guts that ther new ones do. I don't think a lot of thought went into what the members are using for hardware before doing this upgrade. Like Mahonri and others, I am going to be here much less frequently and doing a lot less on the site.

Anybody been to Happy Hen House (an alterative chicken forum)? I was there a couple of times last year... it's a lot simpler to use than this! (But not as much fun as BYC people LOL.)

And I agree... I see no reason now to upgrade to a Platinum membership. If it's still this slow come July when it's time for us to re-up our GFM, probably won't be doing that, either.

I am practically in tears over this... BYC will probably not even be part of my daily routine before too long. It's UNUSABLY slow.

I so agree on that bold sentence! " I don't think a lot of thought went into what the members are using for hardware before doing this upgrade "

there was that HUGE poll they did last year seeing (now bear with me because i dont speak techie and i dont QUITE remember) how fast all of our browsers were? i think there were 40 pages of answers or something like that
