~What do you think of this coop

Hard to recommend anything without knowing your locale or how many chickens you want. Is your land flat?

BYC is loaded with coop designs of all types and to match all skill levels of builders. You could also order the Dummies coop book from the BYC store.

Give us a few parameters and let's see what we can suggest.

The coop on the first link seems to have a shortage of nest boxes for that amount of hens. I think again the capacity isn't what they are touting, but perhaps it seems roomier inside, they only show the outside in these photos. Seems expensive.

On the second link, you are talking a different set up as those include your pen and fencing. I did not find the prices? However, I would prefer to spend money on the second style coops with the cover over attached pen. Now that is a great set up................although the photo of the one sitting on beautiful sculptured lawn makes me want to giggle.

Like other post have stated it won't work for 30 chickens but on the other hand I house more hens in my coop than the recommended area per chicken and have had no problems. I'm thinking that in the winter they are cozier being a little crowded on the roost and except for night they are outside anyway. You will also find that no matter how many nest boxes you provide the hens will pick out and use only a few favorites even if it means waiting in line! Very attractive little coop but if you have any building skills you could probably look on-line and find a design and build it yourself and save some $.

Cute IS important - at least to some of us backyard city chicken girls.

I really like some of the features, including the roost bars. If one is going to spend the money for it, I would go ahead and get the VSBi auto door (I use one and love it!) add-on, and if you want to move it, get the skids and eye-bolts.

But there's no way 24 (or more) chickens could live in that without some major daily free ranging or a very large run around it!

I imagine that's the intention, also part of the portability aspect and automatic door. Easy to move to new pasture. Not something you'd really do with a run and not something most backyard fanciers have need of.

Looks like all roost space and nothing really in regards to livable/floor space. Birds are meant to come in for laying and roosting only, then back out to the pasture all day.

Suitability would depend on the situation/climate.
