What do you think Ppl? Hen or Roo??

Pekin x Sebright mix.
Part the feathers on the back and look for saddles. That's a big comb and set of wattles for a 12 week old.

But since Sebright males are supposed to be hen-feathered, this bird might also be a hen-feathered male.

We might just have to guess from comb & wattles until it either crows or lays an egg.

Based on the comb & wattles, I'm tentatively guessing male, although of course I could be wrong.

True. I'm not sure about how those particular genetics work.

Younger than I thought. Part the feathers on the back and look for saddles. That's a big comb and set of wattles for a 12 week old.
My thoughts too.. I've been treating it as a roo but thought I'd run it past y'all for a second opinion.

It was bred by me (so I know the parentage) but given, as a very young chick, to a lady with a broody hen. She's only recently returned it so I've not been able to see it's behavior growing up and, of course, being integrated into general population here, it's firmly on the bottom of the pecking order so any potential cockerel behavior is not at all tolerated!!

I'd assume cockerel until proven otherwise.

I’m leaning cockerel, hen feathered or not - I would still look for male saddle feathers just in case. The patterning over the wing bows and patchiness of the coloring in that area make me think male.

It's fun yes!? All of the usual signs dictating a roo *might* not be easily discernible in this one.

He/She has siblings that are roosters that have the henny tail - so yes it's possible that sickle feathers may not develop.

He/She has a hen sibling that also shows similar "variegated" colour patterns and a couple of tail feathers that could be argued are "sickle-like" so I'm not willing to bet my chocolate biscuit on this one either!

Sibling Hen = Definitely a hen = has been laying this season. Hard to see in this picture, but she also has odd feathers of lighter and darker colour and a decidedly dark band on the wing bar area.
