What do you think this means?

Well, guess I won't comment here cuz I'd just be misunderstood.

...and whoever said, I'd find a different Church... well, I agree with that statement. We are all spirit children of Our Loving Heavenly Father, we have Diety in us. nuff said.

I agree that God is within us, but only after we take him in. Thats how I look at it.

I agree it's loaded. And apparently, it was done intentionally, to emphasize exactly how bad (this denomination believes) human nature is.

Which is fine of course. Better to say exactly what you believe so anyone who might join, who does not agree with the church's position, is clearly notified.

I googled the exact phrase and found the articles of one of the Baptist denominations. There may be others but that's what I found.

I've attended multiple denominations of Protestant churches, along with Catholic (went to a Catholic college even tho I was raised Protestant), including a Baptist denomination...and I've heard 'sinful, corrupt' etc used quite commonly but I don't remember ever hearing 'depraved.' I suppose the shock value to make the point is exactly what was intended. Shake people up and get them to think about it.

Interesting, how many religions with many belief systems there are, we gravitate to whatever rings true to each of us. We are blessed in this country to worship any way we choose. I have found different beliefs attractive in a Church, so I found this eye opening.

If people were basically evil (or depraved) the good things that people do would fill the newspaper instead of the reverse.

I'd find me another church. I go to church to be uplifted and leave there feeling joyful rather than to be put down and leave there all depressed.

It doesn't matter what I think it means, or even what you think it means -- it matters what THEY think it means...you'd probably want to find that out before you agreed with them by joining.
