I am being swamped with eggs and presently selling them but also considering letting them brood

If I let a broody sit on eggs (early) .....like now.....will she lay eggs later in the season?

Opinions are needed...

Last year we waited until late APril to allow them to set eggs, but I'm wondering if we'll let them set early this year.

Thanks and have a blessed day.

I could be wrong, but I do not think so. I bought Embdens recently. The lady said they will not lay any more after they hatch a clutch.

Thanks Houndit, I need to rethink the plan and let them hatch their little ones at the end of the season as I did last year and sell the eggs prior to that....

I believe that ducks will continue to lay after a broody spell but their laying season is much longer.

I appreciate your help on this decision!

That is why you have to have Muscovies! They hatch a clutch, and start laying soon after for the next clutch. Like I said I could be mistaken as our geese have not laid yet. If I am wrong please correct me!

Not likely, usually they aren't in prime condition after setting for a month, they are busy being parents and usually molt right around then. I've learned to never say never about waterfowl but I would be very surprized if she did.

our africans hatched and raised a clutch and then she hatched out another batch later in summer. my buffs also layed all fall, but I did not let her hatch anything
