So my Muscovy went broody on a clutch. I had some fertile eggs from my Cayuga hen who is mated with my mallard drake. My Cayuga just won’t go broody but I wanted some of her babies. So I timed it right and slipped two of her eggs under the broody Muscovy when she 28 days left to sit. On hatch day 6 out of her 9 made it. And the three that didn’t were so close. They pipped and got halfway out. Very sad. Looks like mama may have acids rly crushed them. This is her first clutch. Anyway there is much debate around these parts if the Cayuga/ mallard babies were of the ones who made it. My best guess is yes. Here’s a pic or few. I can tell 4 are definitely scovies. But the two that are very dark with very little yellow. I thin are from the other mommy. What do you think?
