It always surprises me that people don't know that they are supposed to tip the pizza drivers.
We earn a little more hourly than waitstaff typically does, but it ALL goes into car maintinence and gas, not to mention the ever-constant threat of being attacked and robbed.
How I tip when I eat out depends entirely on the service. Its a big deal to me if you can't keep my glass filled, or if I have to beg for a check and then wait 20 minutes to be checked out. Otherwise I'm not too terribly picky, coz other things (like slow food) depend more on the cook staff and/or the amount of business. I never felt like I was a bad tipper, but I do tip a little more now that I work for tips.
I refuse to eat out with MIL anymore. Last time I did, her bill was $80+ and she said she couldn't afford to tip.
Since I wanted to eat at that restraunt again, I dropped a $20 for our server, which was the best I could do since I didn't anticipate paying for myself AND covering somebody else too, but no way in heck was I going to leave without tipping!!!!
