What do you use in your nesting box

We use pine shavings. They don't mess in the nest box so stays clean.

Pine shavings, golf balls, and DE.
At one time, I put down carpet padding under the shavings but ended up pulling it out. It just seemed like too good of place for mites and fleas to hang out. Maybe I'm wrong, but now its just pine shavings mixed with DE.

I use sand. My girls love it. But without a lip of some sort they will kick anything out.

We have tried lips of different sizes and seems to have NO effect...I like the carpet idea!
