I am not big into silly presents, I have always liked things that would be useful.
I prefer to make my gifts for the adults in my life. I find that when I try to shop for gifts for people over 13 it is all just junk destined to head to a Goodwill soon.
Everyone likes gift baskets of canned goods, homemade candles, a quilt made just for them, a hand knit headband. It has been pointed out to me that not everyone can make things people are happy to receive and I am lucky to be able to do this.
I also HATE getting things for Christmas. My Dad was always good at getting great, practical gifts I never knew I wanted, but I have everyone focus on my sons now, and as a single Mom rarely get anything form anyone during the holidays.
Last year I got ... hmmm, what did I get? I think I got a tin of cookies from my Grandmother & to cook for a whole gaggle of people.
If there were a Santa I would ask him for:
2 rain barrels
enough wood for 2 raised beds
some trellises
and, since I have been an EXTRA good girl this year despite really hard times,
a spinning wheel.
....... at least my 5 year old has plenty of time for his big brother to show him how to speak "teenager"
