What do you wish you'd have known when you started?

"If wishes were horses than beggars would ride".

There are too many things to learn and I couldn't have learned them all so there surely would have been something I'd have done differently. Some nights I laid in bed wondering if I did the right thing to get chickens.

So to answer your question. I wish I had known that when I pick up a chicken, I'd just want to squeeze it's cute little guts out.

I'm just glad I have everyone here to give me good advice and put up with me. Love ya all

chx grow fast and had a bigger coop and
automatic water and feeder from 6 to 60 in one year
was a bit over whelming but we enjoy every minute of it even mucking out the pens. LoL

I wish I had known how much I love it. I would not have waited so long to have chickens. I really enjoy sitting with them and just watching them

I wish I knew that no matter how frequently I clean my brooder/s, my house will smell like a coop. Even now that I know this I still brood the little ones inside because I like to have them close. I have banned company for the nest 3 weeks until the babies are 6weeks old and can go out doors.

I asked this question a few week ago, and got hardly any responses. I am glad you posted it.
In 10 weeks I have learned that I am more attached to them than I would have ever thought. Probably not a good idea to buy from the feed store even if you only want them for eggs. I am sure in a years time there will be a lot more to add to my list.
