Assuming you let your ducks swim, what do your ducks swim in? Post pics if you have them.

I'm trying to figure something out thats lets them get more under the water since they seem to love it so much. Currently, all I have a kid pool.

Size is an issue as well since I have 9 pekin ducks and 6 chinese white geese.

Mine are using a kiddie pool right now too but they're still little & so they can duck under water in it. I'll see if I can get a pic of it later.

this is a really bad pic but it is a 275gal pond.
if you do a search for ponds on here you should see a bunch. i think a few weeks ago everyone was posting there ponds and talking about the filtration systems.
hope that helps

it is hooked up to a sump pump and filters through 2 half wine barrals that have diff. kinds of rock and a good lair of charcole. to drain it i unhook the sump pump from the pvc pipes that go to the barrals and attach another pvc pipe that is threaded for my hose and the pump emptys the pond through the hose and into my garden! if that doesnt make sence i could send a few pics to help

My setup for swimming is really simple, but I only have 3 ducks, and don't plan to ever have any more.

Yes it's tilted a little to encourage the sludge toward the drain.

The container is a Rubbermaid storage box that I got a full of garden equipment at an auction. I had no use for it, so I repurposed it for the ducks. I added a drain that extends outside the run to keep the mud down, and it's plumbed to a rainwater barrel. I drain it daily, sometimes twice if the ducks spent the previous night outside.

I'd do something more permanent and better looking, but in my coop, the chickens rule, and I don't want to take up any more of their room. Someday I may consider introducing the ducks to our pond, but right now there is a wild Mallard and her 8 young that are living there.

i do have to either run the hose around the holes on the sump pump every 4 days or so or wipe around it with my hand. for me the sump pump has been really easy and pumps enough water through my filters to keep my pond clean enough to see the bottom.
my ducks also like the kiddie pool but i have 22 and i was dumping and cleaning it a few times a day. now with the pond i clean it every 2wks and i like seeing them dive but if i didnt have so many i would still be using a kiddie pool and would have the pond in the front yard as a koi pond
