What do your roosters eat?

I understand that hens should be on layer feed, but do the roosters just eat this as well? Is the extra calcium detrimental to them?

My Roosters eat everthing the hens do

It would be really hard to give them separate food -- he just eats whatever the hens do, it's fine. -Wendy

My 3 roosters live with the 22 plus hens. Layer pellets are available all the time and they free range eating lots of grasses and leftovers from our kitchen, including meat scraps. THe hens like hunting for earthworms though I've not seen the roosters be very interested. On days they are in the run, with a full container of pellets, I throw pellets into the straw like scratch and they gobble it up even though the pellets are in the pan!! LOL Later I toss in whole oats and Boss and whole corn. And boy are they gifted at grabbing moths and bugs right out of the air. My point is the birds have a variety of feed to choose from, not just straight layer pellets.
