What does "Bock Bock BA-GOCK!" mean?

Mine do it when I sneeze inside the coop! But some of my hens kind of scream..... and don't do this noise. But, I have a variety - almost all bantums though. But they all have their own noise.

I'm the OP!

When my dog races by chasing his ball, I have a rooster who goes, "WHOOAAA!"

Fast moving object. Mine do especially for hens flying overhead but also do it for hawks that are really close. Sound may differ based on nature of stimulus. The sound when produced in response to flying hens may be a way to get them to land.

"Buck buck boock booock boock = censored talk from roo to hen

My Marans roo makes this sound when he sees ME !

Ugh.. What do you think THAT means ???

It just means they're excited about something. Sometimes it's an alert to something unknown and possibly dangerous and sometimes it's because they laid an egg and sometimes it's because they've found something they want the others to see.

Ive seen my roos do this to hens before they "surf" them.

Must mean " hey baby, lets surf ". That's why I said it was censored.

If your maran roo says that to you, it needs kick therapy. j/k

Just tell him: BOCK BOCK BA BA BA BOCK BOOOCK!! while flapping your arms.that means: Back off, you're confused!

What does it mean when they are "growling" not really a bock or anything else, just growls. My astrolorp does it when we come or go, and the RIR does it every once in a while.

Just a dominance thing. Like a dog or cat does.

"Rowrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" = Back off/im King here.

Mine do it when they want me to open the run door! This morning I thoujght for sure I heard the egg song, but nothing so far from my black star. Our barred rock is laying and never does the egg song - she does get quite noisy when she wants out of the run to free range!
