Hrm, I've noticed another general chitchat sound that seems to happen when my hens are wondering what's going on or what something is.

It's a really rough and drawn out low sound "rrrrrruuuuuuck? rrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuck?" I imagine them saying "Whaaaatcha doing?"
