    Do you make something?
    Do you collect them?
    Do you give them away?
    Do you sell them?
Do you just throw them away?

I am looking for a use for my millions of different feathers that my lovely chickens give me all the time. Anyone more creative than me? LOL.

I use my girls' feathers in my DreamWebs...like this one...The feathers are from Obelisk the Tormentor and Miss MoneyPenny.

Haha, funny you should ask- I've been collecting feathers for a long time. Tonight I just asked my dad to bring me a plywood chicken shape cutout and I'm going to glue the feathers in the appropriate places (i.e., fluffy for butt, flight feathers for wing, etc.). Wish me luck! I'll post pics!

I give mine to my wife. She is in the activity department at a convelasant hospital. They use them on different projects they make.

Feathers are compostable! They go in the compost along with the poop and straw/pine shavings.

Mine go into wild birds nests. I've seen them in a few nests now. I think it's neat but I'll start picking up the better ones to do some kind of project with.

Well, when we process meat birds we burn everything. After scalding and plucking I have no interest in them. Yuck on the smell.

Spotted: That is really cool looking, thanks for posting.
Envirogirl: You'll have to post pics when your done.

Anyone else with some ideas? I hate to throw them away. I guess I could always donate them somewhere for arts and crafts.

My little one faithfully picks up every feather she finds. We have a big zipper bag we are keeping them in. She wants to make a pillow out of them. [IMG]

I think it's cute. We only have 5 chickens and they are not meat birds so it will be a darn long time before we have enough feathers for a pillow. I will keep saving them though even after her enthusiasm stops because I am pretty attached to these birds and one day when they are gone I will still be able to hold them and "snuggle" if I have a pillow. I'm a sap I know! [IMG]
