What does it mean?

Gee, Bobbie, unless the shipped eggs got jostled around or frozen, I'm not sure about those, but if your own eggs didn't develop and your temps and humidity seemed really good throughout, then the only thing left would seem to be airflow.

Maybe I got a bad bator????? I hate the adjustment know on the LG, you can't tell how much adjustment you are making??? Guess I can try another room

Hmm, we need to figure this out if we can. Here is some troubleshooting stuff for you:
Eggs clear, no blood rings, no embryonic development

Probable Cause/ Suggested Corrective Measure
Badly chilled eggs or eggs overheated or held at too high a temperature.
Protect eggs against freezing temperatures, gather eggs often, cool properly and quickly; hold eggs under conditions recommended by breeder.

Improper incubator temperature earliest stage of incubation.
Check the accuracy of the thermometer. Operate the incubator at the proper temperature.

Eggs held too long, or held under improper conditions of temperature and humidity.
Kept eggs under proper temperature and humidity conditions and set within ten days after date laid.

Many dead germs.

Probable Cause / Suggested Corrective Measure
Temperature too high or too low in incubator.
Check accuracy of thermometer. Operate incubator at proper temperature

Lack of ventilation.
Provide adequate ventilation of the incubator room and proper openings of the incubator ventilators. Do not recirculate foul air. Supply 100 percent fresh, tempered air.

Improper turning of eggs.
Turn eggs hourly, or, at least, at regular intervals eight times daily.

Hi!
I don't think airflow is the issue. Air flows pretty freely thru fabric.
Do you have more than one thermometer monitering temps?
98 degrees is low and if your thermometer is a degree or two off (on the low side), that could be the problem.
The eggs might try to start at those temps but not quite high enough to 'keep them growing''.

From what you've said, it doesn't sound like airflow, either. I'm just not sure. Lisa, she just put a new batch in the bator and they're coming up to temp is why she only has it at 98 degrees currently. I dont think it's been like that all along. What have your temps been running and your humidity during that last incubation? Instruments are off so often, but I know you have a new one and it's one commonly used among us hatchers.

Temps have been holding good between 99 and 102, it is a still air. I moved it to a table in my bedroom hopefully that will help. I do still have one hen broody I am tempted to put your (Cyn) eggs under her, lol. How would it be it I remove the towel and put the plug back????? Cyn you know how bad I want these babies of yours.

You could give her a few of them to hedge your bets. Maybe since you have six of Caroline's, give her three of them?
In a still air, those temps need to be 101-102.5. Anything below that is a bit low, if I understand the still air correctly. Try that new location for sure and put the plug back in. I have my hova on a table in a bdrm that goes really cool at night and I just throw a little quilted wallhanging over the top of it. Plenty of airflow, but also that cover helps at night. I remove it during the day if the house warms up alot.

I just wanted to throw this in.. actually heard some of this on here:

I get eggs from my flock that *appear* fertile. Have a bullseye. I've tried incubating the eggs and NOTHING. So.. read on here that some hens just produce eggs that *appear* fertile even when they aren't.

Watched my little roo in action. No way was he getting the job done with that particular hen.

I have some more of my eggs in the 'bator LOL! I keep hoping that maybe he hit the mark. But, realistically, I know the chances are pretty close to nil.

Just wanted to let you know in case yours was a similar situation.
