uh oh, i have been candling daily. This is my first time trying to hatch, I hope I haven't done too much harm. We are on day 23 and although all of my duck eggs are moving when candled the brown chicken eggs are difficult to see through. I will not touch from this point on but should I be able to hear them from outside the incubator?
In 1994 I had an incubator from work and borrowed it to hatch Silkie chicks also from work. I didn't know anything, it had an auto turner too. I stuck 45 eggs in twice for the kids to watch hatch. I absolutely didn't know anything about hatching, lockdown, humidity and such! I had 100% hatch both times lol. I guess ignorance is bliss!
I am setting up my incubator, and with no added water, and both vent holes open, I'm getting 60% humidity. It doesn't want to go any lower than that. Is this OK? If it isn't does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to go lower. I live in Florida.
