What does one do with ducks when their owner is traveling?

I live in San Francisco and thoroughly love my two Pekin ducks, Piotr and Posey. Piotr is almost 3 and Posey will be one year old quite soon.

Problem: I travel and wonder if anyone has ideas about finding someone nearby that would care for my ducks when I travel. Someone who would give them excellent care.

I have a wonderful woman who comes in twice a day, a.m. and p.m. but at $45. per day it does get pricey!

Any ideas, please?

Any friends or relatives you could depend on and teach how to care for them? That is very pricey. still pay them but not that price.

When we go on vacation it is a huge production. At this point I have to have a house sitter. We have 6 ducks, 3 dogs and a cat. What about asking a neighbor? Our neighbor has 2 boys that I would trust to take care of my animal (with parental supervision). Friends or family? Another option could be something like care.com but I would be nervous to let someone in my house that I didn't actually know. $45 sounds about right for twice a day house calls from an actual pet sitter. Part of the reason why we would go the house sitter route. I think we were going to offer $100 a week for a house sitter maybe more. There is a young lady that we hire to watch our kids all night when we go out and would call her to see about house sitting. It helps too that her parents have ducks and she loves animals.
