What does Quail taste like? Not sure if I want to try them or not....

To me, it tastes like dark chicken meat. Which i dont like. But...if you like dark meat...i think you'll like it.

I like it better than chicken. I don't have any right now ( will soon though). I think the white Texas A&M variety is all white meat, the others are dark meat.

I dont care for pheasant, but like quail. (bobwhite) the coturnix taste more like pheasant to me, dark meat. Bobwhite white meat, of course only eat the breast.

These Quail have a more delicate flavor and is prized by all who try them, yes I think you will love the taste. I raise a few dozen every year for the table and really enjoy cooking with them. We have friends over for dinner quite often and when they ask what were having today I say Oven roasted Quail and they show up in droves, a real crowd pleaser.

Oh redhen, my favorite is the dark meat on chicken. It's juicier.

I'd suggest buying some quail meat, and trying a number of different recipes, then. If you're partial to dark meat on a chicken, you'll probably like quail.

Quail's great baked, in a slow cooker, or spiced and grilled.

Okay, so I should go with the Bobwhites since the Coturnix taste more like pheasant, right?

I have never tried duck, as a matter of fact, I really haven't tried much at all other than what I can buy from the grocery store.

But the wild rice and quail does sound good. Maybe with some steamed vegetables on the side with mushrooms.

I'm in a pretty small town and have never seen quail meat for sale.
