My Silver Appleyard frequently does this little head ducking and honking. Anyone know what it means?

Yes, this means she really likes that Drake. Here is some info I found on Thecapecoop.com
Both males and females will bob their heads up and down at each other to flirt. Ducks mate in the water, females will flatten their bodies on the surface of the water to make a flat surface for the male to stand on. Females will assume this pose around males to flirt with ones they are interested in.

Thank you! I wondered if it had to do with mating.

Drakes will also gang up on ducks and can possibly drown them all trying to mate at one time so If you don't have any more females I'd sure be looking for more. 3and up females for each drake.

They are such gorgeous ducks :love

She is flirting but if I was her I'd be turning tail and running with 3 drakes to 1 duck.
Me too! I have yet to witness any mating or any other behavior other than this so hopefully she can handle the three! I got all 4 as ducklings in hopes of all or majority female, but no such luck. If it ever seems that it is too much for her, I plan on getting more adult females. She is the ringleader and largest though so maybe she will hold her own. Thanks for the response!
