I know that when a chicken squats it means an egg is a few weeks away. i have a 21week old ee named marylinn that for.the past.three days sees me coming and runs to me and squats. please tell me she doesn t think i am her rooster.

Mine do that too. I pet them and then they run away and ruffle their feathers. They seem satisfied with that.

How funny that she is squatting for me

. and here I thought she was the alpha and was not going to lay due to taking over rooster duties. I can't wait to see what she lays. She is my only EE that is of laying age. I hope it is any color but brown. I can't help but burst into laughter every time she does it.

I only have one hen laying right now and she just started last week, I did hear someone in the nest box when closed the coop up tonight.
