I asked earlier about my chicken that seems to be standing alone. Tonight I went out to observe her and I found that she is holding her wings sort of downward and her tail feathers are fanned out vertically. Here is a picture. she is moving around a bit slowly and is drinking water. Does not seem in particular distress. Can anyone tell me what might be going on with this beauty? Cream Leghorn, about 5 months, no eggs yet.

Is she panting?
Is it hot where you live?
She is not panting. It is warm where we live but I went out early this morning when it was cool outside. She is displaying the same behavior. I'm worried about her. :(

I'd give her a good going over, check vent, belly for swelling.
Look for bugs under feathers, especially around vent.

When I have a bird that is acting 'off' I isolate bird in a wire cage within the coop for a day or two....so I can closely monitor their intake of food and water, crop function(checking at night and in morning before providing more feed), and their poops. Feel their abdomen, from below vent to between legs, for squishy or hard swelling. Check for external parasites or any other abnormalities.

Best to put crate right in coop or run so bird is still 'with' the flock.
I like to use a fold-able wire dog crate (24"L x 18"W x 21"H) with smaller mesh(1x2) on bottom of crate under tray.
Then you can put tray underneath crate to better observe droppings without it being stepped in. If smaller mesh is carefully installed, tray can still be used inside crate.

thank you! I will check her out and isolate her to see if I can find anything out of the ordinary.
