What does YOUR farmhouse look like?! Post pictures here!

Hi all, I haven't posted here in a while, but couldn't resist this thread. We are working on buying a place in Southwestern Wisconsin. I can't retire from the Air Force for another year, but when I came across the listing for this place I couldn't resist. We are working out details of a lease back to the current owner until next summer, when I can retire and move back to Wisconsin, and we should close on it at the end of this month.

The house is seven years old and replaced a beautiful two story colonial that burnt in 2000. The small barn is solid but could use some new shingles and siding. The steel building to the rear of the property was an equipment shed that has been converted to a 2500 hen organic layer operation, with automatic feeders, waterers, and egg collection belts. They produced 58,000 dozen organic, brown, omega-3 eggs last year...

The last photo is the view out the front door.

dangerouschicken ~ Thanks for the compliments.

But don't let me fool you....it's still not finished, nor do I feel like it will ever be finished. The upstairs still doesn't have all the trim done. And we are always looking for ways to improve it.

dacjohns ~ You are so lucky to have that photo! It would be nice to see the house refinished! If you ever do it, you will definately have to post pictures as you go along! LOVE IT!

I'm quite taken with the place too. It's about three miles from the village where I grew up. Too bad we have to wait a year to move in, it's going to be a long year...

The last picture was me looking down the hill at the creek. It was taken the day before it started raining and flooding up there. Luckily the creek bed is about 50 feet lower than the road I'm standing on. The rocks along side of the road in front of me is where they repaired a mudslide from when everything flooded last August. My relatives said they drove past there last week and everything down below was flooded and fairly fast moving. That creek drains 92,000 acres into the Mississippi River which is just three miles downstream.

Oh wow, that is awesome! And to be so close to the river *sighs* Of course, I'm sure it can be nerve wracking at times too!

Very nice place...

Just one question...And it's one I ask lots of people I meet that move from some place to Wisconsin...

Why Wisconsin???? After all Texas doesn't have -40 degrees in the winter...Maybe that's the reason..hahahaha

Not trying to sound rude there...I was born and raised in WI(Northern WI)...Never moved out...Although I think I truely am a Southern Girl at heart...hahah

Missed your posts Mac, glad to see you back. Don't be a stranger if it can be helped. Gorgeous place. The year will pass faster than you expect. Everything for a reason, this will give you time to prepare for all the great times you will have in that great house. Love the property and the views. Good luck and hope to see you on here often.
