don't feel bad masschix we just got the drywall done and we started 5 years ago hubby wouldn't let anyone else do anything. The building inspector made him hire a plumber which he convinced to just let him finish on the plumber's license and i hired the drywaller and he was mad but he got over it after he saw what a nice job the guy was doing.
All 2x6 construction with engineered trusses. It wouldn't have taken so long but DH had to work out of state for 2 years was only home 4 days a month
And wait till i post the pics we have the same taste in houses, lol
i have to clean off the porch first yours looks so nice.

Guess we do have similar taste....that's why we live in the same state. There's nothing more satisfying than actually doing the work yourself. Love the photo of your home! And nice porch furniture LOL! Maybe once the room is done you can get that leather back in where it is safe.

Oh yeah, my porch wasn't very clean...I quickly hid a lot of stuff before I took the photo. I have kids and they have lots of toys....it's usually a mess.

I took these pictures early one morning last April. I had gone out to get the newspaper but it was so pretty outside because of the misty air and the azaleas blooming that I went back inside to get the camera and then walked around the yard taking pictures.

This is my backyard. I made this path to my brother-in-law's house so my daughter and her cousin could visit each other easily.

omg that's too funny i spent a 1/2 hour cleaning the grandkids toys from in front and on the porch and practically killed myself trying to get the pump staging out of the way cause it was still in front of the house.
And yeah it is good knowing that quality materials were put in the house even if i did pound my fingers and thumbs umpteen million times putting those darn hurricane thingees on the rafters.
This house will be handed down to grandchildren someday and it will last. They just don't make houses like ours anymore.
It was like an old fashioned barnraising we had all the nephews and cousins and uncles and brothers over to raise the walls and close in the shell i'll never forget it.

this is the front of the house. we live on 1 acre all fenced.

That's a GREAT place and I especially love the old family photo. I hope that your family has a chance of restoring it someday. Is that Pope County, by chance?

How did you guess Pope County?
