What Duck breed is this??

I am outside of Tampa and they visit us everyday. Two boys I assume because my drakes always try to chase them off. I can walk right next to them now with my dog - they love the feed I leave out during the day when my ducks free range! They are very sweet and quiet.

I thought maybe boys because my girls never care just the drakes. Do you know how to tell the males from the females in this breed? About 15 of them started coming around months ago and they all looked alike so I have no idea how to tell them apart.

Can you ID these ducks?

When I got them was told they were most likely Black Bellied Whistling Wood Tree Ducks. The Wood ducks I find on the internet have a crest on the head----these do not.

I have seen them in Florida year round so I am guessing they are likely in Texas year round as well.

Hey Yolk,I would keep them. I have been wanting me some Wood Ducks and the Mandarian Ducks. But these will be so pretty too.Just keep them happy and Feed them ,Make sure they have a good safe place.

And if they come there it was for a reason.,,,Sandra

Just got done doing some research on internet. At 8 months the belly turns black and their bill turns pink from the grey color it is know. They are not caged. I do have a opened pen they use and I supply food and a good sized tub with water so they can swim, splash and wash up in. Can get up to 3 feet of them before they fly in a small circle. Guess I need to build a shelter for them. Time for more research. Thanks everyone for the replies.
